When our founders Patric Faßbender and Marcus Stahl came up with the idea for the Toniebox, their goal wasn’t just to create a product, but to revolutionize how children experience audio stories. Today, we’re proud to say we’ve achieved this with passion!

How it all began

At tonies, our journey began with a bold vision: to revolutionize how children experience audio stories. Founded by Patric Faßbender and Marcus Stahl, we set out to create not just a product, but an engaging and imaginative storytelling experience. This ambition led to the creation of the Toniebox, which stands as a testament to our commitment to innovation, creativity, and the courage to break new ground.

What started as a small team in Düsseldorf in 2013 has transformed into a dynamic global company with over 500 dedicated employees as of today. Our passion for storytelling and discovering imagination drives us to continuously evolve, allowing us to connect with families around the world. Today, we proudly distribute our products in more than 100 countries, with over 7.3 million Tonieboxes and more than 90 million Tonies sold worldwide.

As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to fostering creativity, collaboration, and a love for storytelling and our products in every corner of the globe, inspiring young minds through the magic of audio stories.

We have outgrown our startup phase and are now entering the next chapter of our company’s development and growth.

Since November 2021, we’ve been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Our portfolio includes more than 1,100 Tonies in various languages, alongside a vast online library with over 4,300 paid and 400 free audio content. We also offer a range of accessories from headphones to backpacks and shelves. Our success isn’t just about our innovative products - it’s driven by partnerships with over 200 licensors worldwide, including big names like Disney, Warner, and Marvel. In 2023, revenue from outside the DACH region rose to 54%, showcasing our global reach and growing popularity.
